What I see in Plano
Every town has its own patterns. These are the ones that come up here.
The older neighbourhoods
Homes around Old Shawnee Trail, Los Rios and west of Custer were built long before anyone thought about wifi. Thick walls and long floor plans defeat a single router, and the fix is usually a second access point in the right place rather than a more expensive box.
The Legacy side
Houses up by Legacy and Windhaven usually arrive with builder-installed networking that was never finished. Half the wall ports are dead because nothing was ever patched in at the panel in the garage.
Offices along the Tollway
A lot of my business work is small offices near the Dallas North Tollway and Preston Road, where a handful of staff share files, a printer and a booking system with nobody employed to look after any of it.
Long time residents
Plenty of visits are to people handed a laptop by a well meaning relative and never shown how to use it. Those run at whatever pace suits, and everything gets written down before I leave.
